How many times ina month do you have to bath a kitty? what shampoo you recommend?

i have a 6 weeks old kittens. How many times ina month do you have to bath a kitty? what shampoo you recommend?
Hi,

I have indoor cats, so they don't really get dirty. Even though they groom themselves, I do like to give them a clean up every few months or when they are going to the vet. I use Nature's Miracle pet wipes. I am sure your local pet supply store has them or some other similar brand. This is much better because it can be very stressful for a cat to be immersed in water and then blown with a loud hair dryer.

They come in a plastic container and pop up like baby wipes. Keep the container in a zip lock bag so they don't dry out.

P.S.

Since they are so young, you may want to give a quick call to the vet to make sure this product will be ok, or maybe purchase a cloth that is more gentle and organic. How many times ina month do you have to bath a kitty? what shampoo you recommend?
you dont really need to wash your cat unless they get into something and its gets all over them. Cats ususally clean themselves alot everyday so you really dont need to wash your cat.
None. They wash themselves.
I like to tongue bath my ***** every day!
Unless the kitten is very dirty, then there is no need to bathe a cat. They do that all by themselves, yes even little kittens. However, if you want to get your cat used to water, then you can always try to get the kitty a little wet no and then. Its better to do it when they are young though so they will get used to it.
i had a 5 week old kitten that I adopted with a severe flea infestation........consequently I had to bathe him every other day until all the fleas were gone........he ended up loving the water and would jump into the tub or shower whenever someone turned the water on!

however, his problem was severe and called for the extra baths due to his condition.......

i take the two long haired cats that I have to a groomer, when they really need it (they tangle up alot)

cats (and kittens) really should not have a bath very often as it dries out their skin and can damage their skin, making them uncomfortable and scratch themselves too much

if your kittens are still learning to use the litterbox, make a mess and end up being stinky, try rubbing them down with a fabric softner sheet......this will remove the dust from the litter and give their fur a fresher, cleaner scent (it will also take any static out of their fur)

this is a safe and easy way to cope with the problem until bath time, which if its really unavoidable, should only be once a month at most
I really recommend NOT bathing them, unless they are filthy... I use Avoderm Shampoo as it has natural avocado oils to keep their coat healthy.

Kittens will clean themselves, even if mama isn't around. In fact, the kittens will bathe each other and you want to encourage that.
If your kitten has not learned to bathe itself, then i would suguest once a week (unless it is a messy eater or still is learning to use the box). Whichever the shampoo you use, make sure it is tearless and hypo-alergetic. This will save you possable problems down the road, like a skin reaction.
0, as everyone else has said already, cats bath themselves and they hate water. Don't piss your kittens off for no reason.
You have the ease of a 'low maintenance pet', don't make it tough on yourself. Like was said above, they clean themselves. And some panic if they get wet and may claw you badly....leave well enough alone.
Cats generally clean themselves, but if the cat has a cleaning problem, I would recommend an organic wash suck as Dr. Bronners or Nature Garden
I have three cats and two dogs we found out through on line sources that you are only supposed to bathe your animals no more than two times a year. That is of course unless they get into something. So i would recommend that you only bathe your kitty twice a year from now on unless it gets into something nasty.Other than that it will CLEAN itself. As for what kind of shampoo is best to use I would use baby shampoo unless you need to give it a flea bath that is then i would get a good flea shampoo. We use WalMarts brand of flea shampoo.Even if it is going to be an inside cat all its life you still have to give it a flea bath once a year,BUT NOT UNTIL it is at least a full year old.
i take my cat a shower about every three to four months because mine also gets dirty because hes an indoor/outdoor cat. he is use to me taking him a shower since he was kitten. so since yours are still kittens you should start right know. the shampoo i use right know for my cat is Hartz flea and tick conditioning shampoo. - kills fleas %26amp; ticks -cleans- deodorizes. but since yours is a kitten i would recommend ZODIAC triple action flea %26amp; tick shampoo for cats, kittens. kills fleas %26amp; ticks , conditions with Aloe and Lanolin, Deodorizes %26amp; freshens. =]
I have a Persian, so baths are mandatory! I like to use Suave Kid's 2-in-1 formula. I find most pet shampoos and conditioners drying/irritating.
Cats don't like water.

They clean themselves.
Never bath a kitten under twelve weeks old. There heat system is fully developed and the could catch cold. Most dont even need baths. They are very clean animals and self sufficient in the bathing department. If for some reason your kitty is extremely dirty, try using cat wipes. That way you can control how ';wet'; it gets. If it really needs a bath, try any cat shampoo from the pet store. Check the label. It will tell you how old the kitty needs to be, in order for you to use it. Good Luck.
my oldest cat is 16 years old and we only gave her one bath when we first got her and she always smells good.

plus she is indoor kitty.
Cats clean themselves.
None! They sell whipes that you could use but don't give them bathes...that's like torture to the poor things.
You don't have to bathe a cat. You can wipe it down with a damp cloth if you have to, but it is generally unnecessary.
You shouldnt wash cats they dont like it and they clean them selfs
cats wash themselves, giving them a bath will only stress them out and give you some seriously scratched arms.. i've had my cat all her life, 9 years and shes never had a bath.
If you really need to clean them, you don't necessarily have to bathe them. Just wipe them down with a soft, damp cloth, or get some of those cat wipes at the pet store.
