What Does Putting Baking Soda In Your Shampoo Do?

I've heard that it makes your hair cleaner, and thickens it. Is this true? How much baking soda should I use if it's true? What Does Putting Baking Soda In Your Shampoo Do?
It does clean your hair very well, but it does not thicken it. It leaves your hair extremely dry. Baking soda has acids in it that strip all of the moisture from your hair. If you have hair that is already damaged (if youve dyed it before, permed it or straighten it regularily) I would not recomend using baking soda as you will only damage your hair even more. And possiably ruin the color of your dyed hair.
