Does using people shampoo on dogs make them go bald?

I have a little yorkie pup and I don't like the smell of her dog shampoo so I started using herbal essences. It seems because of that, there is a bald spot on her head between her ears. The hair where you supposed to pin back covers it occasionally, but usually you look at her and it is visible. It could just be grey hairs in one spot? I don't know, please help.Does using people shampoo on dogs make them go bald?
My professional AKC handler uses pert. And conditioner. My yorkie only looses hair when he scratches. Check her for fleas. If she doesn't have any, make sure you wash out all the soap.

It will cause severe and long term allergies that will be incredibly costly! That baldness is probably a severe rash that could spread and you just haven't noticed it yet.





Dogs scalp and skin is different. Please don't just trust hearsay of whose dog is ok with it and save the dog and yourself alot of pain, tears, money and heartache and just get a pet shampoo for $3.99. Get the unscented dog shampoos for sensitive skin.





Rinse the dog with water (no shampoos) and take her to the vet.

Usually not, but try to use a dog shampoo, and open the cap and take off the metal plastic thing if you can't smell, it then smell it to see if you like it. (I mean the plastic thing that covers the cap so nothing gets out while in the store) haha. I go to PetSmart or PetCo for those things.
please avoid using people shampoo on dogs. not only they will make a dog go bald, but can cause skin infections or some time, death. there is chemical in people shampoo that are very harmful for dogs. please purchase a shampoo only for dogs from local pet store and if u don't like the smell, try to buy other brand which might smell better. i would recommend hurtz brand dog shampoo.
No you can use human shampoo we put conditionor on my dogs fur and she has a ton(LOL) Also, she's a shihtzu so if that made them bald it would of already happened! Hope this helps!!
It shouldn't make her go bald. Could it be you're pulling hairs from tying her hair up too tight?





You can try a baby shampoo, very gentle, doesn't harm their eyes, etc.
never use people shampoo on your dog it takes out the natural oil that the dog needs in its fur there are a million different dog shampoos out there you just need to keep looking to find one you like but please stop using people shampoo
it wont make your dog go bald but it might dry out their skin. just get differnt dog shampoo there is alot of types out there
Get different shampoo for her if you don't like the smell and don't use human shampoo on dogs.
